This little video makes a fascinating point that I’ve not thought of. All the deaths to do with space were either on take offs or landings … which are the most dangerous parts of the flight.
There were the deaths of 3 astronauts, including Gus Grissom, where they died on the launch pad in a fire, during a test. In that case they died on the ground before they even got to doing an actual launch. A fire broke out and in the 100% oxygen atmosphere, they died in about 15 seconds.
However, this is the only account of men who actually died in space itself. As always, the risks are taken by white males breaking new ground, in science! That’s normal!
